Scuba diving is a dangerous sport. Even with the best training and attention to detail things can still go wrong. This book is a collection of real life stories from the ever popular 'IT HAPPENED TO ME' column in DIVE magazine where divers, who have got themselves into perilous situations, describe how they reacted and what actions they took to ensure they lived to tell the tale.
Find out why it important to always carry a knife, why a back-up delayed SMB is a good idea and even what to do if you are stuck in head first in a shopping trolley on the sea bed.
A fascinating read for divers of all levels.

I enjoyed the stories for the most part. However, it was very frustrating trying to understand the meanings of the British slang used without any explanations, footnotes or a glossary for readers outside of England. I wouldn't recommend this book or buy the second volume for this reason.Product details

SCUBA STORIES Real life diving dramas eBook DIVE Magazine Steve Jakeway Simon Simmons Reviews
Real life stories from a Brit based scuba magazine. Good to learn from others experience and entertaining at the same time.
the stroies are a good lessons learned for any diver. However msot of the sotries are UK based, and UK written. I will admit to being very american in that the difernt terminology and differnt pressure scales required just enough translation that i started to loose some of the detail points in the stories.
I found these stores of personnel diving experiences very valuable. Diving is a very rewarding activity, but I do not think the training by most professional scuba instruction organizations convey the seriousness and dangers of the sport. This collection of personnel reflections of less than perfect dives and mishaps gave me a better appreciation of the risks of diving and an encouragement to follow the rules and guidelines of safe scuba diving procedures. The format and text size was a negative factor.
If you are looking for more just then a scuba theory book with real life lessons, this is the the book for you!
Kinda dumb
Good stories of real events from real people.
Entertaining and informative. Sometimes with a chuckle, you'll read these stories but they are a reminder that we should not loose focus while we enjoy our scuba diving.
Some pretty good stories. Calling your dive gear a "Kit" drives me insane I have no idea why it's just silly but... It is published in another country so be ready for odd terms they call their gear...
I enjoyed the stories for the most part. However, it was very frustrating trying to understand the meanings of the British slang used without any explanations, footnotes or a glossary for readers outside of England. I wouldn't recommend this book or buy the second volume for this reason.
