I loved this book. I got this book from a recommendation on Goodreads and I was not disappointed. The book hits the ground running from page one and doesn't let you go until the very end. There are some really hot scenes in the book, but there is also sadness, too. You can feel Jenna's lose and grief for the man she was supposed to marry. Your can feel every emotion the author tries to convey.
Luckily, the second book in the series is already out and I can move on to it. I can't wait to see what happens next! I highly recommend Mistaken for all lovers of the Romance genre!
First Impressions The novel started interestingly enough. A young woman whose father is a well-known Senator feels responsible for her fiance's death. She has a one-night stand with a guy, which is completely out of character for her. The factual setup was good, but it started to go downhill pretty quickly.
Plot There was a big twist in Book 2 that you new was coming even if you didn't know what it was. Then after the twist it just got ridiculous.
Characters In the beginning you think that the female protagonist is a fairly savvy businesswoman, even though she's at the beginning of her career, but by the end of book 2, she's acting as if it were the middle ages. I understand crazy family dynamics and the old habits that one can fall back into, but this was over the top. Jenna's BFF who initally was portrayed as a good friend, though a bit jealous of Jenna's advancement at her own family's firm, but by the end of book 2, she's acting like a 15 y/o without any emotional IQ whatsoever. As for the guys, I just have no words.
Romance seemed legit in the beginning, but then the declarations of love are too soon and unsupported by the context.
Technical aspects I don't recal being distracted by glaring grammatical or editing errors, but that could be because I was so distracted by the plot crashing and burning.
Overall i'm sorry I wasted my time. i think I got this as a freebie in the hopes of an honest review, and I'm glad I didn't pay for it. I'm also realizing that I hate the serial novel, where it takes 14 installments to get to the actual meat of the story. This book 1 and 2 merely sets the stage for the rest of the series, and I'm absolutely not interested in the rest.
For those who love a good suspenseful sexy read, this one is a must. Follow Jenna into this journey that takes some crazy twists and turns but steams up the pages. Renna Peak's descriptive prose immediately engages mental images that flow into its own mini movie. Jenna lost her love Daniel a year ago. She can't shake the guilt she feels for his death. She won't let herself live until she meets Brandon. Then the dark world of her father's political career shatters what she believed to be her reality. IT has the elements that keep you hooked, so grab your reader, a glass of wine and be prepared to be immersed in Jenna's changing world. I hope you can keep up even when Jenna can't.
Jenna is the daughter of a politician and always did his bid. She was engaged to a rising new politician when he suddenly passed away. She is trying to move on with her life has a one night stand with a beautiful man and all help breaks out. The book is six sequels and I am onto book 2.
I know we have to suspend disbelief in these books but why do so many characters act like children except in the bedroom where all too mature things happen. I love hot sex, but when it is between people no common sense or maturity it is almost icky. And don't get me started on "twist" ending cliffhanger. Yikes!

And, if that means taking a chance on a new guy then so be it. Jenna deserves it.
Jenna is sent to Japan by her work for heading a presentation with a business client. She never anticipated that she might be without lodging when the hotel cannot find her reservation. Fuming and in disbelief at the hotel clerk, she glances around deciding how she can rectify the situation. And who should she spy, but the alluring Brandon, her lust-filled one-night stand who keeps showing up in the least expected places. He offers his hotel room, as he is in town for a business meeting also. Though to keep things friendly so Jenna is not intimidated by his proposition, he offers to take her out on the town for the night.
And Jenna has to admit, Brandon is very attractive. He can make her melt on the spot and turn her mind to mush. The thing is, as much as she is trying to move on with her life without being in a relationship, Brandon keeps turning up - to which he claims is not a mistake. But can Jenna take a chance on Brandon while she's attempting to mend her heart? Jenna isn't sure how to keep casual when her body wants him. How can her heart handle one more night with Brandon? And what does the morning hold this time?
This book is WOW. It keeps you intrigued and flipping the pages. I can't wait for the next one in the series!
